The new season of Finding Your Roots on PBS, hosted by Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr., continues tonight with a new episode! In this episode, three guests who have helped to redefine Black America in the last decade find their identities challenged as they learn about their family origins.

Season 4 Episode 4: The Vanguard

Author Ta-Nehisi Coates, filmmaker Ava DuVernay and author-activist Janet Mock see their basic assumptions about their families challenged, placing their ancestors-of all colors-into the greater context of black history.
