It all started with an old family photo, a note scribbled on the back . . . can you help solve The Mysterious Death of Anna T. McPhillips?
Recently I decided to tackle some of my own family photo projects. I found one mysterious photo, of a woman from the 1920s, with a fashionable cloche-style hat partially covering her face. On the back was scribbled the name “Anna Austin” and a note.
Like most genealogists I LOVE a great mystery. And as I started researching the life of Anna T. McPhillips – my 2x Great Aunt – I realized: this would make a great video to demonstrate my genealogy research methodology that I use for clients as well as my own family history.
Join Me Today – Thursday, May 14th, 2020 – and Help Solve this Mystery!
When I inherited the photo above, of Anna T. McPhillips (1889-1925), the wife of my 2x Great Uncle Maurice Austin (1890-1966) I had no information on Anna except for a note scrawled on the back of the photo. It was likely added by my great-grandmother Therese McGinnes Austin (1894-1988) in her old age. The note read: “Anna Austin, killed when a car hit her in the Bronx”.
Now I admit, that note had me intrigued . . . so who wouldn’t want to do some research and fill in the blanks? Join me later TODAY, Thursday, May 14th at 1:00 pm Central for The Mysterious Death of Anna T, McPhillips over at the Abundant Genealogy Facebook Page. There is nothing to register for and nothing to download. If you cannot attend, the session will be recorded and made available for future viewing. Click HERE to set a REMINDER on Facebook!
