Lisa is the author of a variety of multi-media materials including the Genealogy Gems Premium website subscription, and four books: The Genealogist’s Google Toolbox (Second Edition), Mobile Genealogy, How to Find Your Family History in Newspapers, and Genealogy Gems: Ultimate Research Strategies, and the video series Google Earth for Genealogy.
In addition to Genealogy Gems, Lisa works closely with Family Tree Magazine as producer and host of the Family Tree Magazine Podcast, a regular article author for the magazine, and curriculum developer and instructor for Family Tree University.

She’s especially known for her expertise on the world’s biggest family history websites (she’s the author of Genealogy Giants: Comparing the 4 Major Websites); writing personal and family histories (she also wrote Story of My Life: A Workbook for Preserving Your Legacy); and sharing her latest favorite reads for the Genealogy Gems Book Club. Sunny is also a Contributing Editor at Family Tree Magazine and the NGS-award-winning Co-Editor of Ohio Genealogy News.
John Covey is Director of the Home and Family Division at Franklin Covey Co. He is also co-founder of the Education Division and has served as Senior Consultant with such businesses as Conoco and the U.S. Army Corps.
As Director and co-founder of Franklin Covey’s Home and Family Division, Dr. Covey was heavily involved with his brother, Stephen R. Covey, in the design, development and editing of the book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families and co-author of The Proactive Family Guide Book with Stephen. John and his wife Jane have given numerous presentations and seminars on the family throughout the world.
In the past 38 years, John has spent many years teaching business management, organizational behavior, and marketing. He was a professor for seven years at Brigham Young University and has worked for 22 years applying his expertise in the private sector. Before coming to Franklin Covey he served for seven years as Manager and Director of Planning and Leadership Development for a large international service organization. Traveling extensively as a lecturer and trainer, Dr. Covey has served in various leadership positions in the United States and Australia.
